Lockheed Martin has flown the first F-35A that is destined for the Vermont Air National Guard (ANG), known as ‘The Green Mountain Boys’. The aircraft (serial 17-5265/AF-207) made its maiden flight on July 31 at the company’s Fort Worth factory in Texas carry a VT tail code.

The 158th Fighter Wing is the next US Air Force unit set to transition to the Lightning II and the first ANG unit to do so. It retired its last F-16s earlier this year in preparation.
