Lightnings for Tyndall?

The USAF has recommended the appropriation of supplemental funding to rebuild Tyndall AFB, Florida, which received catastrophic damage when it was struck by Hurricane Michael on October 10. The money would also be used to prepare the base to support the F-35A. The service recently completed a preliminary evaluation that confirmed Tyndall can accommodate up to three F-35A squadrons. As part of that plan, the operational F-22A Raptors assigned to the 325th Fighter Wing’s 95th Fighter Squadron at Tyndall would be assigned to other operational units and the USAF will conduct a formal evaluation to determine the best location for Tyndall’s F-22A training squadron, which has been displaced to Eglin AFB, Florida.
