The current July issue of Combat Aircraft features a photo report on the new Belgian Air Force F-16 ‘Dark Falcon’ Solo Display Team is ready for the 2018 airshow season.
It’s a longstanding tradition within the Belgian Air Component to have an F-16 Solo Display Team perform during the airshow season. In fact, the first such team was inaugurated in 1979 — just a year after the first Belgian F-16 arrived in country. Once every two or three years, an experienced F-16 pilot is selected to represent the Belgian Air Component internationally. From 2018 onwards, Senior Captain (Sr Cpt) Stefan Darte, callsign ‘Vador’, based at Florennes air base, will perform at airshows all over Europe with a freshly painted F-16AM.
